“Road show” is the term used by Richard Jankovich, Chairman of the Manhattan Regional Airport Advisory Board, to describe all his visits to area governmental groups these days, asking for backing of American Eagle’s new jet service next month from Manhattan Regional to Dallas-Fort Worth. Jankovich asked for up to $36,000 from Pottawatomie county over a three fiscal year period. Jankovich indicates he’s getting a good response, with no one closing the door in his face so far. Jankovich adds the amount of money needed is considerably less, now that the state has committed to a substantial portion of the funding. Each governmental group would provide a portion of the remainder needed, primarily for marketing. Pottawatomie county’s share would be a little over six percent for the revenue guarantee and marketing dollars. Jankovich talked to Riley County officials last week, and plans to meet with Clay County and Geary County officials in the near future. Dickinson and Marshall Counties are also on the list.
