Costume Attire Guidelines & Boo Map

Costume Guidelines

Sunset Zoo is a family-friendly attraction that welcomes creative costumes, provided they are tasteful and appropriate; while we encourage imaginative expressions, we prioritize safety and good judgement, and therefore, the following guidelines are established to protect our staff, visitors, and animals:

  • Inflatable costumes and furry costumes are discouraged because they can disturb the animals and obstruct pathways.
  • Costumes may not be obstructive, offensive, objectional, or violent.
  • Costumes cannot contain any weapons that resemble or could be mistaken for an actual weapon; including swords, knives, guns, etc.
  • Costumes may not contain sharp objects, pointed objects, or material that can strike another guest.
  • Costumes cannot contain electrical components , rapid-moving parts, smoke or fog effects, or any gruesome imagery involving bodily harm or blood.
  • Costumes cannot include any sports equipment such bicycles, scooters, in-line skates, balls, bats, frisbees, and balloons.
  • Costume accessories such as battery-powered ride-on vehicles, pedal powered cards, push cards, and remote controlled toys are not permitted.

Sunset Zoo reserves the right to refuse admission or request that a guest depart if their attire is considered inappropriate, potentially distracting from the visitor experience or causing stress to animals. Guests who do not comply to these guidelines may be denied entry to the zoo unless their costume can be adjusted to meet specific standards.
